I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! :) Here is an update on happenings at school.
Math:
We are learning about different strategies to help students divide and multiply quickly. We are beginning to look at decomposing factors (ex. 4x6 is the same as (2x6)+(2x6)). This is a very tricky concept for most students. We will be spending a lot of time on this in the days leading up to winter break and continue with this skill upon returning.
Reading:
This week we are reading Yonder Mountain and working with determining the author's message of the story and comparing characters. Students are also learning about quotations and subject-verb agreement.
Social Studies:
We are finishing up our unit on government and will soon begin learning about geography.
